Playground Theatre
is hosting a staged reading of Can’t Count on Dracula and Insomniac
Society on June 22 in Chicago, Illinois as part of “First Mondays.” In Can’t
Count on Dracula, the Sand Witch, the self-proclaimed
beast of the beach, studies to be scary under the direction of Dracula and the
Invisible Man, until a troubled little kid, Frankenstein and an encounter with
Mr. Hyde make her rethink her wicked ways. Wolfman and the Creature from the
Black Lagoon join in the fun in this comedic monster mash-up for all ages. In Insomniac
Society, an overachieving and overbearing insomniac creates a group chat
where fellow teens can pass the endless nights together in a virtual world of
their own creation. A new member, who is not what he claims to be, threatens to
destroy all that they have worked so hard to build. For more about the show,
