“Bitches on Good Behavior”, “Kissing Boo Boos”, and “Modest Goddess” open in Michigan

Queer Theatre Kalamazoo and Fancy Pants Theater join forces for “#Ladyfest” featuring Stacey Lane’s short plays, Bitches on Good Behavior, Kissing Boo Boos, and Modest Goddess. “#Ladyfest” runs March 13 through 21 at Fire Historical Arts Collaborative in Kalamazoo, Michigan.  In Bitches on Good Behavior, a man at a bar calls a woman a bitch when she turns down his offer to buy her a drink. In Kissing Boo Boos, a child gets injured on a public playground. A man rushes over to offer the child comfort. The mother is outraged. The same scene plays out again, but this time a woman comforts the crying child. The child’s mother is grateful. In Modest Goddess, an artist draws a provocative portrait. “The Hundred Dollar Hug” advances to the IHSSA State Finals in Iowa

High school actor, Brandon Winn, under the direction of Zach Feldt advanced to the IHSSA State Finals with his performance of Stacey Lane’s monologue, The Hundred Dollar Hug. On March 12, he competes in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In this serious monologue, a guy who yearns for human contact offers anyone a hundred dollars to hug him, but warns his potential huggers of his possibly dark motives. “Jews in My Basement” premieres in Texas

Jews in My Basement has its world premiere at the McKinney Repertory Theatre. The show runs March 6 through 15 at the McKinney Performing Arts Center in McKinney, Texas. In this new work for three men and three women, the orderly lives of an obsessive-compulsive housewife, her scholarly husband, and her agoraphobic older sister are thrown off balance when their politically-correct sister uses their home to conduct interviews for the entertainment for her son’s birthday party.  Tossed into the mix are an aging clown and an overly talkative mime with a criminal record.
